My Background
Maggie King, AMFT #151986, APCC #18356
Supervised by Sophie Marchand, LMFT #113187

I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor who specializes in childhood trauma, PTSD, chronic depression, anxiety, life transitions, personality disorders, and grief counseling.
As a first-generation Asian American, I also have a particular focus on working with the immigrant population, helping individuals navigate issues around identity, culture, and family dynamics.
Before becoming a mental health therapist, I spent 10 years as a Doctor of Occupational Therapy, which has shaped my approach to healing from a holistic perspective. I understand the intricate connections between psychological health and the ability to engage meaningfully in life roles, routines, and activities. This experience further enriches my work as a therapist, particularly when addressing the complex challenges that arise from trauma, life stressors, and cross-cultural issues.

My Approach to Therapy
I believe that every individual and relationship is unique, and so is the path to healing and growth. My approach is rooted in empathy, respect, and collaboration. I work with you to explore your concerns, identify patterns, and develop practical tools to create lasting positive change. Whether you’re struggling with communication, emotional distress, or major life transitions, my goal is to help you gain clarity, build resilience, and restore balance in your relationships. No matter where you are in your journey, I’m here to help guide you toward a more connected, authentic, and fulfilling life.

I integrate concepts from attachment theory, psychodynamic therapy, narrative therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy in my therapeutic approach, tailoring interventions to the unique needs of each client.
Services
I offer psychotherapy services across the lifespan through both virtual and in-person options at $150 per 50 minute session. I offer telehealth sessions via a secure website that is HIPAA compliant or I welcome clients to my office in Pasadena, CA. I am open to exploring with you the option that works best for your particular situation.
I am not included on insurance panels, but can provide a Super Bill, which is a detailed receipt for services that may be used for reimbursement through client’s health insurance.

Children and Teens
Are you or your child struggling with some big emotions? Therapy offers a safe space to talk, understand emotions, and develop coping skills. I work with kids and teens to manage stress, anxiety, self-esteem, and life or school challenges. Together, we’ll find ways to feel more confident, balanced, and in control.

Adults
Adulthood can feel disorientating, challenging, and even isolating. Ranging from depression, to losing a loved one, a career loss, and life transitions to debilitating anxiety and suicidal thoughts, I want to have the honor of being part of your journey to finding yourself again and living a fulfilling life.

Seniors and End-of-Life
Living a personally meaningful last few years of life can feel daunting. How do we say goodbye? How do we leave our loved ones behind? What is waiting for us after death? I work with you, step-by-step, holding your hand, as we explore answers to these questions. Together, we will explore the concept of dying with dignity with a true sense of self and peace.
